Before We Get Started - by Melcena Rose Darrah - 4/9/2005 - The very
first thing is something most people still do not understand. You must, must plan. Planning is something most young people
see no reson for and is to them boring. I know, I was young once. Nothing ever works out the way we plan, does it? Well, as
the years have gone by, I have found that the more you plan, the more prepared you are when things just don't go the way you
plan. So, let's get some things together so we will be prepared when it is time to go out and find that job!
Look in your pocket. Do you have your Social Security Card? If you don't, do you remember when you had it
last? Has it been stolen or lost? If so, you will need another one. No one will hire you without one.
The only place you can go for one is the Social Security Office.

In most cases you probably will not even need an application if you are
already in the system. If not, call and they will send you one. Or download one at www.socialsecurity.gov Due to technical problems a printable version cannot be shown on this website. |

Birth Certificates - Before you can even get a Social Security Card You must have a birth certificate. This should always
be kept in a location where you can remember where you put it and away from prying eyes. If you have misplaced or lost it,
you will have to get another one. Here is a place where you can get more information. Birth Certificate Information
Do not buy from this location, unless you have a lot of money. Use it as information. Then look up the department of
records for the city and state you were born and contact them for actual cost.

Self - Evaluation - Now that you have all of these things
together, let's take a self-evaluation.
So, why do we need a self-evaluation? When I was youg, I asked the same question. There was nothing more devastating
to me than facing myself. I no longer feel that way, even though now I am more limited physically.
The hardest part of looking at ourselves is honesty. If you are a Christian, you know that every crack and
craes of His Creation, but He wants you to open up to Him. And, if you practise opening up to Him then you will be more honest
when you face yourself.
The first attention should be with attitude. Why do you want to work? Are you working just to pay the bills?
Are you looking for happiness in the workplace? Are you looking for a sense of acheivement? Do you look forward to praise
and glory for what you do?

Whether you are Christian or not, even the world is understanding that attitude plays a large role in the type of job
you will be ready for. Jobs like: fast foods, telemarketing, and similiar "entry-level" jobs instill competition, rewards
for acheivement, and constant stress to keep a quota. These jobs instill being first, fastest, less quality, more quantity.
They dehumanize and give a feeling of just being numbers that if they are not high enough, you are out.
Your attitude is going to be driven by your motive. If your motive is to just pay the bills, keep up, or surpass others
possessions, then high stress entry-jobs may be what you are looking for.
If you are a Christian, before you think about what job will be appropriate, asking God to lead you to the job He would
like for you to use as a service to Him will eliminate a lot of useless thinking on your part. Not that God does not want
you to think. Just the opposite. But, when you go to job opportunities, you will know whether or not this or that job will
fit into God's plans for your life.
